Help! I put the wrong gas in my car!

A friend of mine hit me up the other day in a panic.

"Patrice!!!! What do you do when you put in the wrong gas type?  I put in reg. and it was supposed to be premium. Do I need premium gas?"

Aw man.  I love when people contact me with questions.  It gives me great tip of the week ideas!  Haha!If any of you have been in my friend's situation, do not worry.  Do not panic.  Luxury cars call for or recommend premium or 93 octane gas.  If you are driving a vehicle that calls for premium, you aren't doing any damage if you fill up with regular or 87 octane gas. You, however, will feel a difference in driving performance and may hear some knocking or pinging in your engine.  The vehicle will lack power.  I guess that defeats the purpose of having a luxury vehicle since most of them are designed to have optimum power and engine performance. So, no worries, save a few bucks and use 87 if you budget isn't allowing for 93.  Or save a few hundred dollars a year using regular if you don't mind sacrificing power. How do you find out what type of gas your vehicle recommends?  Your owner's manual.  Also check the fuel/gas door.  It is often written on the inside cover. My friends who have vehicles that call for regular gas, you are doing nothing but wasting money if you put plus or premium gas in your car.  Trust me.  Save your money and get that air filter changed you have been holding off on for 6 months!Questions about gas types and how they effect your vehicle?  Email me at info@girlsautoclinic.com.  If you would like to learn how to maintain your vehicle and feel more in power when it comes to repairs and service, sign up for a free Girls Auto Clinic Workshop!  The next one is in August!
