Thank You for the Lessons

Today we would like to highlight someone important to Girls Auto Clinic that has been working as our trusted advisor. Her expertise has helped us reach lengths we couldn’t imagine! We now want to say from the bottom of our hearts, “Thank You for the Lessons”.  They soon will be leaving and working under the Biden Administration. 

That person is Dr. Vanessa Z. Chan, she will be the Chief Commercialization Officer and Director of the Office of Technology Transitions for the Department of Energy. Dr. Chan’s position entails her having responsibility for all commercialization activities across DOE, the 17 National Laboratories, and the Department’s other research and production facilities across the country. This includes advocating and advancing clear pathways for the commercialization of innovative technologies, ensuring that the taxpayer-funded discoveries happening at our world-class facilities are making their way out of the labs and into the commercial marketplace. 

Dr. Chan earned her Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology along with the University of Pennsylvania. She has two decades of leadership experience within the fields of technology, business, and other diverse industries. Dr. Chan is truly amazing and we all will surely miss her here at Girls Auto Clinic.

Even though she will be at the heart of driving our ambitious climate agenda by helping bring to market the incredible research being done in our National Labs, she will always be a #sheCANic!

Thank you so much Vanessa for your dedication and hard work! You will be missed, but your insight will be forever valued. We cannot wait to see all the amazing things you will do.
